JAY MCDOUGALL

FERGUS FALLS, MN

Jay McDougall is a contemporary wood sculptor living in Fergus Falls, MN. His current body of reductively sculpted work is the distillation of a career spent pursuing economy of line and form. Jay studied wood technology and design at the University of Wisconsin – Stout, where he received his BS degree. He began his career in 1982 as an independent furniture design/builder. He has been a contributing writer to Fine WoodWorking magazine as well as having written a column for a regional Lake and Home publication. McDougall has been recognized with numerous awards at national Art Exhibitions and has received a McKnight Foundation Fellowship. Acknowledging the limits of production in working alone to produce one of a kind sculpture, Jay has foregone gallery representation and prefers to sell his work directly to his collectors via Art Shows and online.
